Ham Radio for Amateurs

Thank you for stopping by! My goal is to tell you about the Amateur Radio projects I have been working on and to share my experiences, good and bad.

I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the various people who have and continue to help me: Don KA3ZAR (SK), my first Elmer.  Nearly 25 years ago, Don tossed a copy of Now You're Talking on the kitchen table and said there was test the next day.  I studied and passed the Novice exam and a few weeks later, passed the Technician exam.  Don was a great mentor, friend, and buddy: his spirit is still around my Shack.  I also took a lot of friendly abuse from other Hams who weren't excited about the new group of No-Coders on the repeaters but we got used to each other.

My Kids, all of whom are adults now, never miss an opportunity to climb on the roof, hold an antenna mast in 40 mph winds, or poke fun at me. My 6 Grandchildren, who wonder why I just don't use a cell phone to talk to people in Europe, are my best audience for stories about a QSO with foreign lands. And last, but never least, Judy, my Beloved Wife, who tolerates the antennas, my evenings in The Shack, shakes her head when I get excited about a good deal on eBay, and always has the right answer!

I developed this website using Microsoft's Expression Web 4 (yeah, I know it's old, but it works...) and it is hosted at It is a work in progress and I will provide updates as time permits.

I hope you enjoy your visit.
